Capitalizing on the success of the EP, on the 13th of Jun 2015, Niykee launched a website titled NBK (Natural Born Killers) for independently releasing her songs following a fall-out with her Record label. It also reached the top ten in the US iTunes store within 24 hours of its release. It marked a remarkable outcome for her as it topped the Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart. Niykee Heaton’s Debut EP and Headlining Tourīy September 23, 2014, Niykee Heaton dropped her debut EP titled Bad Intentions. In 2014, she signed a joint recording deal with All Def Digital and Capitol Records. She immediately hired a manager named Lauren and together, they recorded some impressive catalog of songs.
Such a magnificent achievement announced Niykee Heaton to record labels who started making inquiries about her availability. It was featured on the WorldStarHipHop website and Chief Keef himself even publicized his admiration for Heaton’s version of his song. Her December 2012 cover of Chief Keef’s song, Love Sosa, particularly went viral and attracted millions of views. The young girl expertly covered songs from the likes of ASAP Rocky, Trinidad James, and Chief Keef and this brought her thousands of followers.
Her fame, however, went through the roof when she decided to focus on posting covers of her favorite rap songs. She initially recorded acoustic guitar covers of different genres of music and gained a few followers. Gaining YouTube Stardom with her Mind-Blowing Rap Coversĭuring her junior year of high school, Niykee Heaton created an account on YouTube where she uploaded clips recorded in the comfort of her bedroom. Her tastes moved from Bob Dylan and Jeff Buckley to the Motown/ Diana Ross and when she discovered rap music, starting with Lil Jon, she felt right at home. Through this bleak period, the one thing that made Niykee happy was music. She became the target of bullies and soon withdrew into her shell. The family was however in difficult financial strains at that time and as such, the request was turned down.
By the time she turned 9, the little girl had already taught herself how to play the guitar and begged her mom to sign her up for some instrumental and vocal lessons. She started her journey into the music industry at the tender age of 5 writing songs and learning instruments. Rachel sadly passed on in 2007 due to liver cancer complications.
